I am a clinical psychologist in private practice—in Redwood City, California, since 1996, I live and practice now on the Hawaiian island of Kaua’i. In addition to continuing my California practice by videochat, telephone, and visits to the mainland, I see patients in Omao near Koloa and Po’ipu, both those who live here and those who are able to visit the island.
I received my B.A. from Stanford University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and with distinction in English Literature. I went on to earn a Master’s degree from Stanford in Education and taught high school English in Los Gatos, California, and later college composition classes at Deree College in Athens, Greece. Returning to Stanford, I served as an administrator for the next ten years, ultimately in the position of Assistant Dean of Research. I was responsible for fundraising, public relations, and facilities development and management for the seven interdisciplinary laboratories and institutes reporting to the Dean.
I graduated from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, in 1995, having completed my dissertation: Attachment Style and the Reconstruction of Autobiographical Memories, and an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. I returned to California and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Santa Clara Kaiser Permanente. The next year, I served as Executive Director of the Samaritan Counseling Center, a faith-based counseling center in Palo Alto, before turning my attention full-time to my private practice. Most recently, I have joined the faculty of Fuller Seminary in Northern California, as an adjunct assistant professor of pastoral counseling.
